This is another really great game, art and story - and it is a game for mature audiences with topics like torture, violence and murder lurking in the air; sometimes shown, sometimes just hinted at.And yes it's true, the user interface may need some getting used to even with a gamepad. But it is also something fresh and unique that no-one has done before (like LA's coin UI). If you don't have one, do yourself some good and get an Xbox 360 controller. It will benefit you in so many games except you're just playing traditional PnC adventures all the time.In the contrary to some other re-interpretations of the genre the core mechanics are those of a proper classical adventure - inventory system, combination of inventory items, dialog/dialog options and event-based dialog, exchanging items with other characters.Some stuff is easy in this game but I'm now having my second show stopper being stumped on how to proceed or what I might have overlooked; the interaction possibilities of the UI like "self exploration" demand some out-of-the-box thinking you may not be used to from traditional adventures.And please, don't let people tell you you don't need to play the first part and just this one - this sequel spoilers all the important and mysterious plot points and twists en passant at the very beginning of the game without much tension or excitement. Do yourself a favor - don't get spoiled, play the first game FIRST, then enjoy this sequel to enrich your Yesterday experience with more background story and mystery. The first part is genious in that regard because it will disturb you totally at the end of the very first chapter and then start to raise so many questions whose threads just come together at the end of the game.. Fun game - graphics and voice acting were solid with an interesting story that kept my attention. Sadly though, the controls weren't great (especially the mouse.. yikes) and the interfaces were a bit quirky. It was too easy to get stuck on a solution because you didn't face an object at a particular angle to get an interaction icon. I also missed some puzzles that required combining two items where I tried the combining the correct items but eventually realized that it must be done in a particular order for no apparent reason. There are a few more similarly annoying scenarios, but the gist is that there were enough quirks that it took away a lot of the enjoyment from the puzzles.Even with those issues, I still enjoyed playing through despite having to cheat a few times. But I'd give it some serious thought before purchasing since these kinds of issues will drive some people nuts.. A much better experience than the first. It's around double the play time--the puzzles are moderate like the first but the story is better and fleshes out John's loooong history. The ending is something Tarantino would be proud of.. Don't play this if you didn't play the first game before, because it throw a major spoiler in your face right after the prologue. With a title like that, you would expect a prequel, but it's not.The interface is a nightmare, everything about it is clunky and the devs tries to pass it as "optimised for a controller". It's a bold faced lie, since the game is optimised for a tablet.When you use the controller, it's up to the games whim on what hotspot of interest it decide to focus, and when you use the mouse, navigating the hotspot or the inventory is tedious, as the whole game is designed to swipe and move everything with your finger, as if you're playing on a smartphone or a tablet.Combining object can be weird. For example, you can use the antenna on the remote and it makes a new object, but god forbids you use the remote on the antenna, it's too silly...Later, you have a message and a leather tube. You can't combine the message and the tube, but lo and behold, you can combine the tube and the message.Due to the poor optimisation, i can't see part of my inventory, and i had to click on an invisible item to resolve a puzzle.Also, if your controller is plugged in, you can't use the mouse, the game don't swap control schemes.I wouldn't recommend.
